Five alumni from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) who graduated within the last four years are now assistant professors at other universities around the country.

ISE Associate Professor Anahita Khojandi and a multidisciplinary team of researchers from UT use data and predictive tools to improve the detection of sepsis.

Anahita Khojandi was recently awarded with a fellowship to the National Institute of Health’s Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity program.

PhD student Ezgi Gursel won an award from the US Department of Energy for making it easier to catch human errors in nuclear power plants.

Anahita Khojandi’s team has developed an algorithm that leads to improved sepsis detection.
