Biography
Dr. Tony Zhongshun Shi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and directs the System-driven AI Lab (SAIL) at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK). He is also an Affiliated Faculty of Machine Tool Research Center and Institute of Advanced Materials and Manufacturing at UTK. Prior to joining UTK, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Peking University. His research focuses on the integration of AI, human and complex systems by developing trustworthy system-driven AI methods toward scientific discovery and engineering innovation, with an emphasis of smart manufacturing. Integrated digital tools will be developed to serve research, education, and industry.
