ORNL Joint Faculty Assistant Professor
Dr. Sachin Nimbalkar has more than eight years of professional experience which includes working as a R&D Scientist at U.S. DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He provides technical support to DOE’s Better Buildings, Better Plants Program Partners (such as GM, Navistar, etc.) through energy road map development, baselining analysis, In-Plant Trainings, field visits to investigate feasible measures to reduce process energy requirements. Sachin assists DOE's international activities through technical program management support, planning and development of tools and materials. He has conducted several training and demonstration workshops throughout India, China, and Costa Rica covering energy efficiency in process heat systems, DOE's system specific and cross-cutting energy audits, the Global Superior Energy Performance program, and ISO 50001 implementation steps and tools. He is an active member of Sigma Xi, ASME, and SAE since 2010. Sachin has achieved the “Qualified Specialist” recognition in using three key DOE energy efficiency software tools – the Pump System Assessment Tool (PSAT), the Process Heating Assessment and Survey Tool (PHAST), and the Steam System Assessment Tool (SSAT). Dr. Nimbalkar received his B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Pune, India, and M.S and PhD degrees again in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University, New Jersey.
