Dr. Scott J. Mason is the Fluor Endowed Chair in Supply Chain Optimization and Logistics and a Professor of Industrial Engineering at Clemson University. He is currently the interim department chair for the Department of Industrial of Engineering. Prior to joining Clemson, Dr. Mason spent 10 years in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas. He received his Ph. D. in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University after earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Mason’s research focuses on developing optimization-based solutions for planning, scheduling, and controlling large-scale supply chain systems. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Electronics Packaging Manufacturing, a senior member of the Institute for Industrial Engineers and a member of INFORMS. Talk Abstract:
As Chair of South Carolina’s SmartState Center of Economic Excellence in Supply Chain Optimization and Logistics, Dr. Mason is responsible for developing and maintaining active research relationships with both private and public sector organizations to foster economic development, increased efficiencies, and job creation in the state of South Carolina. Dr. Mason will overview some of his more rewarding industry-based projects in order to highlight key insights and other lessons learned during the research process. By discussing both successes and failures, the hope is that the audience will be able to apply some of these lessons to their own future endeavors.
