Dr. Xi Receives DARPA Young Faculty Award

Dr. Zhimin Xi, assistant professor in the ISE, is the recipient of 2016 Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Young Faculty Award (YFA) in the amount of $481,006 for the next two years. The program’s objective is to identify and engage rising research stars in junior faculty positions at US academic institutions and introduce them to Department of Defense (DoD) needs as well as DARPA’s program development process. During the 24-month base period, a number of visits and exercises at a variety of DoD sites and facilities will be scheduled to provide recipients a unique, firsthand exposure to DoD personnel and technologies used in the field, issues faced by the Military Services in execution of their missions, and current national security challenges. Xi joined the ISE department in 2016.
