An ISE student team won the First place in the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) 2014 Logistics and Supply Chain Case Study Competition. The team was formed by Ying Zhang, Leandra Church, and Jinglu Song. They used optimization techniques to design a supply chain network for a company to serve consumers in a city. Their model considered operating, inventory, and transportation costs for retail stores and manufacturing plants. Ying and Jinglu are graduate students in the Logistics, Transportation, and Supply Chain Engineering Lab directed by Dr. Mingzhou Jin. Leandra is an ISE senior. The award will be presented in the Annual Industrial and Systems Engineering Conference in Montreal, Canada in May.
